Trick or Treat

 HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Hope you are all looking forward to a night out with all the ghosts, zombie and witches as much as I am.  If Thriller does not get played tonight though I will be greatly disappointed.  Everyone makes such an effort for Halloween which is why it is probably one of my favourite holidays, after Christmas of course. Only 54 days away (this is perhaps more scary than what I'll be looking like tonight).

I decided to go as a skeleton this year, not very original but it is easy to do. My mum was a gem and bought me the top from Tesco £10 - saved me a few pennies. I decided I would wear it with a black skater skirt and tights as all the detail would be in my face.  To create this look all I needed was white and black face paint and a black kohl eyeliner to define the teeth.  I would love to take all the cred for this but unfortunately my talents do not go that far, it was in fact my flat mate that was the genius behind this masterpiece.

Enjoy your Hallow to the een!! X

The New Girl in Town

Move over the Olsens, Cara Delevingne is my new style crush. Even though I have no idea how to say her second name this girl makes me go green with envy. The London born model first came into the limelight when she became the face of Burberry in 2011.  Most recently she has modeled for Zara which makes me love her even more since it is basically my second home.   Her photo shoots always appear on my wall somewhere as she looks effortlessly cool with an edgy, street vibe.

Cara is known for her bold, full eyebrows which is something everyone seems to be going mad for at the moment I seem to be forever restocking the eyebrow pencils when I am working away in Superdrug. Fortunately mine are already pretty bushy, I think it's down to the Italian blood in me as my dad and sister are both the same.

Speaking of family Miss Delevingne's older sister Poppy is a beauty too.  She has bagged herself campaigns with Anya Hindmarch, Mango and has recently become an ambassador for Chanel while their godmother is Joan Collins.  This family can do no wrong. Please adopt me!

I experimented with Cara's more casual style, she manages to rock a vest and leather combo so I went for that aspect in today's look.  Luckily I did not need to buy anything new and just rummaged my wardrobe (and my flat mates) to find these oldies. Give it a go, it is amazing what you can find and the different combinations you can create.  Sometimes a vest, jeans & heels can just be as sexy as a show stopping dress for turning this into a night out look.

Jeans and Vest- Zara £29.99, £12.99. Shirt- New Look £16 Leather Jacket- Next £45 Shoes- Topshop £15 Cameo Necklace-£5 from a vintage stall.

Last photo I promise! Just couldn't resist this one...

Is it bad that I am now in the mood of a hot dog?! ahhh!
Until next time X

TGIF

In the words of Rebecca Black “It’s Friday, Friday”! My favourite and most important day of the week as 1. I’m off uni and 2. It’s PAYDAY.  I also realised I haven’t been shopping in over a week (I checked my temperature to make sure I was feeling okay) so thought I would be one of those crazy shoppers and embrace the horrendous weather to take a trek down to Bon Accord. Believe me it was a struggle as the rain lashed in my face and the wind prevented me from moving for at least 60 seconds.  My mum forced me take my hooded jacket to Aberdeen, just as well she did because otherwise I would have been supporting the drowned rat look- definitely not in this Autumn.
Jacket - £35 Collar- £12.99

Last week at work a customer came in with a coat that oozed style and I immediately wanted to track it down. I did my research to find it was from River Island priced at £85. However during my shopping trip today the light bulb went off in my head that I could recreate my own with the little help of H&M.  Altogether I spent £48 meaning I still have money left over food. Yaay!

Trousers

I was at TGI Fridays yesterday for my flatmates birthday dinner. We were all out the night before hand and needed some hangover munch. I also thought it would be the perfect time to preview my black and white printed trousers which I must say felt super tight after my three course meal. The boldness of the purple peplum top made the print stand out even more which was a trick I noticed Olivia Palermo use when she teamed her trousers with a bright yellow top while Beyonce has worn hers with a coat and boots ideal for the winter weather.

Trousers- H&M £9.99
Top- Zara £22.99

H&M for the win

When lying in bed this morning bored (yes not even Twitter or Facebook were entertaining me) I decided to take a look at the Vogue website. If you can not always afford the magazine the online updates are a great way to still find out the latest news. I opened a another tab so I could take a browse at H&M too and noticed they are doing a considerably good job right now at producing some catwalk worthy coats, similar to this one below which is from Raj Simons' collection for Jill Sander.  It received standing ovation in Milan and I can see why- what a beauty!

“The Rise of the Oversize” as Vogue like to call it consists of cocoon coats, loose fitting jackets and soft structured clothing where shoulder lines become some what invisible.  Usually I stay away from these styles but this Autumn/Winter it is set to be big! (No pun intended).  To finish the look try slim line trousers to help keep the overall outfit balanced.

Let the shirt do the talking

I bought this shirt two weeks ago from Zara (£30) and have been dying to wear it ever since while I have noticed one of Lauren Conrad’s staple outfits being a classy shirt with a skirt combo.  It always looks effortlessly chic so inspired me for Friday nights’ outfit.  This shirt would have been even more “perf” with a navy lantern skirt but since my wardrobe lacks one of those, I rummaged through my drawers to find these navy shorts which I forgot I even had (always a bonus) and teamed it with them instead. Spikes seem to be everywhere at the moment so my favourite necklace is always a winner if I want to toughen my look. (Topshop- £15) I’m excited to experiment with this shirt as I think it will prove to be very multifunctional.  My new navy brogues will look amaze with it too.

Shorts- Topshop £15, Sandals- Topshop £45
