Bargain Buys

Just a quick little post about my purchases that cost very little money- always a bonus for a student like me! I know I'm going to regret saying this but I'm actually looking forward to working more hours over the holidays; more money means I can SHOPSHOPSHOP. Also Boxing day sales are always a winner so I'm hoping to get some Christmas money too so I can SPENDSPENDSPEND.

This top is all about the back! Originally costing £36, I bagged it for £3 in the Topshop sale

This jumpsuit was meant to be £135!!! I know, what a rip off but on a shopping trip in Livingston my sister spotted this in the French Connection outlet for a purse friendly £10. I couldn't say no.

Everyone loves a bargain so keep your eyes peeled

RED

Normally I'm someone who sticks to muted, neutral shades but when I seen this bold red/orange dress from Urban Outfitters I knew it was a must have.  Originally I bought it with the intention of wearing it purely on nights out but I've found this Valentino-esque dress can be worn in a variety of ways.

On it's own with a belt and accessories...

Dress- £20 Shoes- Miss Selfridge:£35 Belt- Zara:£6

Add a jumper to make it into a skirt...
Jumper-Primark:£8 Necklace- Topshop:£7.50

Or wear it with my favourite army style jacket...
Jacket- Zara:£39.99

Plus red is such a festive colour and will be great for the party season when I'll have to embrace the coldness and go without the wooly tights!

Sadly my clothing addiction has come to a halt right now due to the number of Christmas pressies I still need to buy so I'll deffo be wearing more of my clothes in a number of ways to try make it all look a bit different!

 Anyhoo happy Chrimbo shopping

Life as a buyer

Buying is deffo a part of the fashion industry I'm interested in and could see myself working in one day. I thought I would ask my fellow Czerek and cousin Zoe for a bit of an insight.  Zoe is the buyer for pied a terre and Bertie. Both part of the Dune group & are all about shoes which is her absolute love.

Here's an exclusive little interview for you budding fashionistas...

E: What is the best thing about being a fashion buyer?

Z: The best thing about being a buyer is seeing your product go through so many stages in order to get it on the shop floor. It's the best feeling seeing people wear your shoes. Not everyone knows how specialist footwear is and shoes go through about 120 processes before being made! Also I get to travel to amazing places which I love and am very fortunate to be able to.

E: What does your job invlove?

Z: My job involves working closely with the designer to get shoes into the range which are correct for the brand identity. We review everything, trends, constructions, materials and colour palette. I go around the world to get inspiration. My designer will then put new styles into work and we would then go to the factories to make any corrections before the samples come back, I then range build the shoes so we can make sure we have all the looks covered! Lastly my directors all sign the range off and then the orders are placed by my assistants. It doesn't stop there as there are lots of follow up processed- getting the confirmation sample tested and fitted with our foot model and managing the delivery of the goods which my assistant does! Then they go to store!

E: What is your favourite shoe of the season?

Z: My favourite shoe of the season has to be these amazing laser cut boots which I can't seem to get my feet out off! I wear them with my leather skinny trouses and with an oversized dress! Ankle boots are a key item and are now worn all year round.
pied a terre- £185

E: What styles can we expect for spring/summer 2013?

Z: Spring summer is looking exciting! Lots of metallics, nudes, blonde leather and Perspex! Colour is going to be bright also with cobalt blue and orange being my favourite! Styling is simplistic. My favourite shoe for next season for pied a terre is a Perspex sandal and for Bertie it's an amazing printed loafer.

Sneak peak at Bertie S/S 2013

This is Zoe celebrating Dune's 20th birthday party, looking gorgeous in a Zara jumpsuit. (the Zara obsession runs in the family)

These are my fave shoes from this season. Cute little patent boots, perfect for toughening up a
girly look

Dear Santa..

So it is 33 days and counting until the big day (mega excited) which means only one thing it is time to write my Christmas List.  I feel by expressing everything I am in LOVE with at the moment on a list I can at least forget about them for a bit and focus on buying my friends & family's presents which need to become my priority.  It is hard though as everything in the stores and online is so beautiful right now.

1.  The Leather Dress

Zara £29.99

Everyone needs and an LBD in their lives but this one has an edge to it with the leather panel top. Great for all those nights out as it can be acsessorised in a variety of ways, looking like a whole new outfit every time. A brilliant investment buy.

2. The Kurt Geigs

Kurt Geiger (On sale) £39
Since I'm basically the green giant, the one to be towering over everyone on a night out; it is hard to find the right height of heel. Kitten heels are a no go and shoes like Jeffrey's would well and truly make me a human skyline. These little babes are just perfect and will go with a lot of the colours I wear.

3. The Bargain Top
Matalan £12
Browsing aimlessly on the web I came across Matalan's clothing range.  It is not some place I would usually shop but I found this hidden treasure which I can see is going to be a keeper.

4. The Tinted Moisturiser
Benefit £23.50

I actually swear by benefit "you rebel" moisturiser. The tube lasts for about 6 months at a time so is definitely worth the money. I refuse to wear anything else. The one I have just now is running low so this item is a must from Santa.

5. The Scent
Debenhams £55
My sister gave me Chloe perfume for being her bridesmaid back in 2007 and I haven't worn another perfume since.  The smell floral, young and with a little hint of heaven. At a ridiculous price I usually wait and buy it at duty free or wait until the festive/birthday season and stock up.

6. The iPhone

Yes I have been living in the stone age and have still been using my Bold BB. I feel it's about time I move with the times and join the iPhone revelation.  My 5 year old niece can even work them better than me. I'm looking forward to getting all the apps and most of all instagram as everyone and their granny seems to have it!

Gothic&Glamourus

It has been a whole two weeks since my last update- apologies! I have just been majorly busy with uni work at the moment. Second year is deffo a step up from first, much more work involved. Anyway I'm back and ready to blog!

So winter sure is here as I seem to be forever living  in my boots and knits right now however something that has taking my fancy is the dark and gothic trend. The deep oxblood reds and blacks are creeping back into my wardrobe.

One purchase which I just know is going to be a god send this winter is this midi dress from Topshop. It comes in a variety of different colours and was an absolute steal at £24. This dress can be glammed up with lots of jewels and heels on a night out or teamed with some wooly tights, ankle boots and your favourite cardi for an on trend day look. Even add a hat to keep your ears warm. Just watch out for hat hair. Nobody likes a flat doo!

If midis aren't your thing then try a shorter style dress like my friend Lauren who also bought her dress from Topshop (£26) or how about a velvet skirt and laced top to nail the gothic look.
Topshop: £45
Topshop:£28
No outfit is complete without the right accessories. I am dying to get my hands on these beauties.

Zara: £49.99
Topshop: £15
Zara: £29.99
And if that wasn't enough and you want to be a wild one and go all out, take some inspiration from these glamorous celebs who are rocking the dark lip and nails!

Hope this has kick started you inner goth!

But since it has been a while since my last blog post I thought I would give you a wee treat!  Part of our coursework was to do and style our own photo shoot that will later be featured in our year's magazine. The group of girls I worked with were all great and the photographers were lovely which made the day such a success. I ended up modelling in the shoot too where I got to wear gorgeous clothes along with shoes from Kurt Geiger! However I am deffo not cut out for the modelling business so this is as far as it goes.
 Anyway here's a sneak peak...

Trick or Treat

 HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Hope you are all looking forward to a night out with all the ghosts, zombie and witches as much as I am.  If Thriller does not get played tonight though I will be greatly disappointed.  Everyone makes such an effort for Halloween which is why it is probably one of my favourite holidays, after Christmas of course. Only 54 days away (this is perhaps more scary than what I'll be looking like tonight).

I decided to go as a skeleton this year, not very original but it is easy to do. My mum was a gem and bought me the top from Tesco £10 - saved me a few pennies. I decided I would wear it with a black skater skirt and tights as all the detail would be in my face.  To create this look all I needed was white and black face paint and a black kohl eyeliner to define the teeth.  I would love to take all the cred for this but unfortunately my talents do not go that far, it was in fact my flat mate that was the genius behind this masterpiece.

Enjoy your Hallow to the een!! X

The New Girl in Town

Move over the Olsens, Cara Delevingne is my new style crush. Even though I have no idea how to say her second name this girl makes me go green with envy. The London born model first came into the limelight when she became the face of Burberry in 2011.  Most recently she has modeled for Zara which makes me love her even more since it is basically my second home.   Her photo shoots always appear on my wall somewhere as she looks effortlessly cool with an edgy, street vibe.

Cara is known for her bold, full eyebrows which is something everyone seems to be going mad for at the moment I seem to be forever restocking the eyebrow pencils when I am working away in Superdrug. Fortunately mine are already pretty bushy, I think it's down to the Italian blood in me as my dad and sister are both the same.

Speaking of family Miss Delevingne's older sister Poppy is a beauty too.  She has bagged herself campaigns with Anya Hindmarch, Mango and has recently become an ambassador for Chanel while their godmother is Joan Collins.  This family can do no wrong. Please adopt me!

I experimented with Cara's more casual style, she manages to rock a vest and leather combo so I went for that aspect in today's look.  Luckily I did not need to buy anything new and just rummaged my wardrobe (and my flat mates) to find these oldies. Give it a go, it is amazing what you can find and the different combinations you can create.  Sometimes a vest, jeans & heels can just be as sexy as a show stopping dress for turning this into a night out look.

Jeans and Vest- Zara £29.99, £12.99. Shirt- New Look £16 Leather Jacket- Next £45 Shoes- Topshop £15 Cameo Necklace-£5 from a vintage stall.

Last photo I promise! Just couldn't resist this one...

Is it bad that I am now in the mood of a hot dog?! ahhh!
Until next time X
